亨利•詹姆斯（Henry James,1843—1916），作家、文艺评论家，心理分析小说的开创者，近代英美文坛巨匠。主要作品有长篇小说《美国人》、《一位女士的画像》、《卡萨玛西穆公爵》、《鸽翼》、《使节》、《金碗》，中篇小说《黛西•米勒》、《阿斯彭文稿》、《螺丝在拧紧》、《丛林猛兽》，文学评论《法国诗人与小说家》、《小说的艺术》、《观感和评论》及游记《法国掠影》、《英国风情》等。

高水准的中篇杰作，几乎和《螺丝在拧紧》难分伯仲。心理分析，氛围营造，节奏掌控，各方面技艺可谓炉火纯青，既富古典诗意，又有悬疑鬼魅气息，火候把握得当，全程不泄气，中篇的篇幅刚刚好。
这就是亨利·詹姆斯，清心寡欲，追求绝对的灵魂自由，抒写人性的微妙，细腻的再现微观的内心。读他的书，要放慢下来，渐渐的体味。
对我而言典型的慢热，最初还以为会要变成教长的黑面纱。然而绿色面纱终是摘下，那双黑暗中的眼睛比我想象中还要意味深长。
