作者简介
塞涅卡（Lucius Annaeus Seneca，公元前4年—公元65年），古罗马哲学家、戏剧家、诗人和政治家，斯多葛派代表人物之一。塞涅卡曾是罗马皇帝卡利古拉统治下的朝廷顾问，在克劳狄乌斯即位时被流放，后被召回成为尼禄的家庭教师。塞涅卡作为尼禄皇帝的顾问，发挥了重要作用，但后来被逼自杀。他留下了许多哲学著作，如《论愤怒》《论幸福生活》或《论生命之短暂》，尤其是他的《道德书简》，全面展露了他的斯多葛派哲学观念。他创作的悲剧作品是拉丁悲剧的最佳典范之一，如《美狄亚》《俄狄浦斯》等作品，滋养了十七世纪法国古典戏剧。
