作者简介
约翰·勒卡雷，原名大卫·康威尔 David Cornwell，1931年生于英国。18岁便被英国军方情报单位招募，担任对东柏林的间谍工作；退役后在牛津大学攻读现代语言，之后于伊顿公学教授法文与德文。1959年进入英国外交部，同时开始写作。他以第三本著作《柏林谍影》一举 成名，知名小说家格林如此盛赞：“这是我读过的最好的间谍小说！”从此奠定文坛大师地位。

如果你是一名间谍，想活得久一点，那么你最好要有一个健康的体魄，清晰准确的大脑，和随时可做模糊和删改的记忆力。可悲的是，当你有了足以胜任情报工作的头脑，你就无法真的遗忘，于是最优秀的特工总是要有得过且过的自我麻痹能力，瞬时切换的道德轴线，以及足够程度的玩世不恭。这个行当里那些不肯修正自我的人像是白天的老鼠一样罕见，因为他们往往在天亮前就被捕杀。夜色茫茫，群鼠喧嚣过界，遗忘是遗忘者的通行证，追问是追问者的墓志铭。

可能是最好的间谍小说
审讯是重头戏，完美设计的阴谋。间谍小说这种类型的危机是欺骗诡诈（自己人设的圈套，体制化的罪恶以正义之名极度邪恶地利用和戕害个人），救赎是强烈的真实感情和尊严等人性（以殉情之极端），虽然后者注定失败。显出英国作家的政治性和对人性的清晰把握。
酣畅淋漓的阅读体验
挺好看的，结局知道是个悲剧，但是任务的真正目的倒是没猜到
之前看过电影，但情节全忘了。上半段很稀汤，从审判开始节奏加快，特别在惊险逃亡时的敞开心扉，是主人公作为棋子的告白。
有点儿意思，但也差些意思。前半部分不错，但自审判开始就有些崩坏，结尾更是潦草——虽然是个悲剧。成名作或许不够成熟。
第一本勒卡雷。多少因为脑子不好使，而失去了一些乐趣。
