作者简介
哈维尔•马里亚斯（1951- ），西班牙小说家、翻译家、专栏作家。1979年因翻译《项狄传》获得西班牙国家翻译奖。1992年出版《如此苍白的心》，英译版于1997年获得IMPAC都柏林国际文学奖。
马里亚斯生于马德里，童年有一段时期在美国度过。从马德里康普顿斯大学毕业后的六年内，他的兴趣转向文学翻译，先后把许多名作家的书翻译成西班牙语，这也成就了马里亚斯语言的多元性。

“回响结构”+“离题叙事”，马里亚斯的风格可谓独树一帜。
六十多岁的马里亚斯，毕竟不同于四十岁出头的马里亚斯。相比《如此苍白的心》，这部作品少了年轻时的锐意风发，多了沉稳老辣，随着剧情推进越来越辣，停不下来。相比《迷情》，《坏事》的主题隐于幕后，留给人物发声和读者回味的空间，在结构、情节上处理更完善。最新作《Berta Isla》也是500多页的长篇，足见作者良好的创作状态和魄力，期待出版方继续推出马氏的作品。
读了1/3，总算从一堆线头里找到了主线，作者给自己挖得坑太多了，居然最后一一填平了，太奇妙了。

给恶劣的行为披上光鲜或者玩笑的袍子，万一还留有良知，一辈子都要逃避它们。甚至死亡也并非解药，因为更多的人类还在接踵而至。

依然靠事无巨细的心理描写和对人性幽微的精妙洞察来弥补整体结构的薄弱。谢天谢地，这次马里亚斯终于把语言上的盘旋重复和叙事上的不断偏题控制在了一个尚且能够容忍的限度之内。关于谎言和真相、欺骗和宽恕，也在时代社会背景的还原下呈现出多重意义。
评分在3星和4星之间游走。马里亚斯的文笔是好的，出于阅读和写作经验，他对多层面社会症状——尤其是经历过独裁统治和战争创伤的社会——的观察和剖析都很深刻，深刻到几乎每页都有能划线出来发到票圈豆瓣或者红🍠等社交媒体，用来或警醒自己或影射现实或蓄意装B的长短名句，但是他的整体书写太过短小干净，纵然对人物线的把控非常精妙，但对叙事的构架和对时代以及地域的延伸都不够宽广，甚至还依托着西方语言特有的复杂句式来拉长故事及其中蕴含的哲理，用陈老师的话说：“原本并不奥妙的东西，用一种繁复、扭曲的句式写出来，真是让人生厌啊。”
