很好的面向业余人士的译本
One is fate, how the will of Zeus/God will alawys overpower the will of men. The other is honor, how the mortal makes their choices in the face of war/death/fate/life, regardless of the will of God. Honor had overturned one's fear and sorrow. The last piece is humanity that drives one's love and hatred, one's wellbeing and suicide. SY 8/14
第一次看史诗，献给了荷马。必须五星好评啊！史诗果然是史诗，篇幅长，所以能把各方面交代得清清楚楚：宏大的战争场面、各种血腥惨烈的死法、各色人物性格、诸神的爱恨立场-甚至对于很多英雄的出身都要花上一些笔墨。虽然有不少篇幅在交代诸神的反应、行动，但是给人的感觉就是诸神不过是拥有超凡能力永远不死的人而已，“人性”二字充斥着整本书。读伊利亚特，不仅能了解当时的战争是什么样子，包括战场打仗、战后的掠夺俘虏战利品分配、死者身后事等，还能窥见当时的一些社会文化，如饮食、运动竞技等等。语言上，荷马经常使用很多形象类比，还有很多发人深思的金句，非常值得一读！Fagles翻译得很流畅。读Iliad开了个好头，接下来Odyssey，Aeneid希腊神话相关的书，包括各种古希腊悲剧，走起！
拿来学语言，背诵。三卷之后发现，现代英国人的思维跟古希腊人不是一回事，几乎没有从句！
Pure magic.
（虽然现代读者读起来可能感觉有很多不合逻辑、不合常规的地方，但很少有不合情理之外的，后世欧洲的很多文学模式或是寓意都可以在其中找到影子）

读这个故事的时候我还怀抱着对大学和未来的美好想象。Achilles的名字念起来比他这个人好，Thetis像被血缘栓住的东亚母亲，Helen不见得美到挑起战争，短命的男人们躲在她的纱裙下窥视英雄的称谓，我也不喜欢Hector，不喜欢Troy，不喜欢被流离失所的妇女儿童铺陈的宏大叙事，但喜欢那个时候一无所知的我。
荷马史诗，被认为是“西方”的第一本文学作品。读的另一个译本。Achilles的傲慢和愤怒随处可见，但他又对神尤其的虔诚（正如所有其他的人类）尤其是宙斯和雅典娜。雅典娜的角色塑造也很有趣，欺诈、好斗、欺骗Hector、挑衅阿瑞斯、和赫拉唱反调。有很多想说的，但总是欲辨已忘言。最喜欢火神做盔甲的那段。最感慨于book24 Achilles和Priam谈完后两人去睡觉的决定，似乎是终于决定正视疲惫感，准备向前看了——虽然前方，就是iliad中没有讲到的特洛伊最后的战争。结局已经注定，但人还不能倒下。
