威廉·德雷谢维奇（William Deresiewicz），毕业于哥伦比亚大学，在耶鲁大学担任过十年英文教授，在哥伦比亚大学担任过五年研究生导师。他是一名颇有影响力的文学评论家，其文章经常出现在《纽约时报》《大西洋月刊》《国家》《共和》上。近年来他关注美国大学的教育状况，《精英教育的劣势》（The Disadvantage of an Elite Education）一文在网络上点击率超过100 万次。他的畅销书《优秀的绵羊》在国内引进出版后，引起广泛讨论和相当程度的共鸣。

以前很多时候，我能感受到简奥斯丁以及她的作品对我的影响，在看待和处理很多事情的时候。但我不能具体地将这些影响表达出来。这本书的作者用文学分析的手法和细致程度，对每本奥斯丁的小说提炼了一个主题（虽然我觉得每本书中不一定只有一个主题，而奥斯丁的作品中有某种一以贯之的东西），结合作者本人读博期间的经历，写得非常具有启发性。同时这本书的编排，即将每本书的主题与作者的人生经历结合起来，可以感受到作者编排的用心，这是一本非常好读的书。

提出了不少理解奥斯丁小说的角度，quite inspirational
找到了久违的阅读乐趣，阅读有关奥斯丁的一切永远都是让我最幸福的事情。
奥斯丁对我而言是非常个人的阅读体验，因为和作者经历差别很大，所以没有多少共鸣。不过作者那种简单朴素的阅读和思考方式让我觉得非常亲切，好像回到了大学时代努力剔除条条框框或者各种杂念，尽力感受思考的那些日子。所以因为能在地铁上看上几页而挣扎着起床，为了在睡前没有负担地看一章而努力工作，似乎又能感受到在那个小教室第一次学习《妇女公民大会》时的快乐。
有点鸡汤，更像回忆录。
凡是和奥斯丁有关的书总喜欢收一本，原以为和其它书差不多，但开始读了发现和作者本人的生活相联系这一点还是有点新意的
读到后面有惊喜~
《相约星期四》之后，好久没看过西方出版的心灵鸡汤类书籍了…
读不下去，放弃。奥斯丁倒是都读完了，谢谢作者
