史料价值很大，但编辑、印刷实在不敢恭维。我很怀疑出版社是不是直接用了Google电子化的PDF，清晰度甚至不如PDF放在iPad上阅读；提要内容似是用了85年《岭南文史》刊登的提要，没有提供更详细的内容。
裨治文被认为是来华新教传教士中仅次于马礼逊的第二号人物，1832年，在马礼逊的提议与支持下，裨治文与其他传教士一道，于当年5月刊行了《中国丛报》（Chinese Repository）第1号。自此以后，这部以研究中国为主的英文月刊一直不间断发行，直到1851年12月时任主编卫三畏决定将其停刊，共持续20年。其文章一般分属“书评”、“文艺通告”、“杂记”、“时事报道”等栏目板块，内容涵盖中国社会与历史的各方面；其作者群体大都是当时各国来华传教士，也有一些著名的商人在上面发文。
刊物本身很重要，极好的社会史和近代中国传教士历史的材料。版本也还可以吧，清晰度虽然如楼上所说，似google的pdf版，但是大开本印出来的质量也并非不能接受。
可否其它传教士早年在华南办的报纸都出完呢
20卷全齐，难得。希望今后能电子化，易于查询。1987年中华书局出版的《鸦片战争史料选译》中有部分中译文，可惜找不到这本书
学校图书馆里有完整一套，经常过去翻阅
