作者简介
托马斯•品钦（1937—）是美国后现代主义的代表作家。他的作品往往以神秘的荒诞文学与科学的交叉结合为特色，对二十世纪下半叶的后现代文学全景影响深远。他获得过美国全国图书奖，但拒绝领奖，亦从不在公众场合抛头露面，媒体连一帧他的照片都拿不到。品钦的代表作包括《性本恶》、《V》、《拍卖第49批》和《万有引力之虹》等，后者被评论界称为只能凭借神力才能完成的“大百科全书”。

差不多超过喜欢漫长的告别三千倍
豆瓣的确应该设置一个“未读完”或者“读不下去”选项。我们对国外文学的关注，可能远胜于国外对我们的关注。盲目崇拜的日子结束了，我何必为了美丽国七十年代的毒品、嬉皮士、洛杉矶黑帮这堆十万八千里之外的丑陋玩意儿，去费力读这么个诘屈的故事呢？
喝了点酒后通宵读完，感觉像钱德勒+巴勒斯，适合读者在意识朦胧状态下阅读。品钦使用了一种叙事蒙太奇，编织出一个星丛式文本，看似眼花缭乱的种种要素，对于文本来说，恰犹如群星之于星丛。梦境与现实的交替，介于迷幻与清醒间的摇摆，阅读的时候，仿佛读者也被带入了这样一个似醒非醒的幻境。感受到了品钦对往昔的怀乡病，以及一种忧郁式哀悼。如果写作是一种救赎，那么品钦的“熵增”式写作，便是他的救赎。

小说很玄幻，细节极其丰富。但对亚洲不友好，尤其是中国。
人性的固有缺陷。好人每天被收买和出卖，而坏人也会有好的一面或者好的时候，于是人就不能简单地分成好人和坏人了。这是人的固有缺陷，于是更重要的是如何去做选择。（从前我没得选，但现在我想做一个好人（bushi））在一系列阴谋诡计里，我们跟着多克的视角也只是窥见一斑，迷失在迷雾之中。
阅读趣味性很高，它讲述不仅仅是一个侦探故事，而是饱含对城市的乡愁以及年代的情怀为基底去讲述这个故事的，这是曼森惨案之后的洛杉矶，也是嬉皮文化、冲浪文化盛行的洛杉矶，同样也是故事里皮骨中流淌着黑色血液的罪恶都市。品钦用一种逝去的怀念的口吻，像是狠狠啜了一口大麻烟吐出来的烟雾，他荒诞又迷幻，只存在某个过去的节点，时间给了他一层落寞的蒙版。从寻找萨斯塔.菲开始，我们跟随者多克走过海滩和日落大道，本质他是一本城市漫游小说，如此庞杂的人物和文化风貌，品钦用一个黑色阴谋勾勒的还是自我心中的那份乡愁。如果你热爱上个世纪的流行文化那就一定别错过这本小说，译者翻译这些文化名词也很不容易，表达敬意。此外PTA翻拍的电影搭配这个看更绝妙。
