Donald Norman's best-selling plea for user-friendly design, with more than 175,000 copies sold to date, is now a Basic paperback.

First, businesses discovered quality as a key competitive edge; next came service. Now, Donald A. Norman, former Director of the Institute for Cognitive Science at the University of California, reveals how smart design is the new competitive frontier. The Design of Everyday Things is a powerful primer on how--and why--some products satisfy customers while others only frustrate them.

Donald A. Norman is Professor of Computer Science at Northwestern University, a former “Apple Fellow,” and a partner in the Nielsen Norman Group Consulting Firm, which consults with corporations on design. He is the author of a number of books on design, including Emotional Design and the best-selling The Design of Everyday Things. He lives in Northbrook, Illinois and Palo Alto...

  • "Today, in the developing field of cognitive science, two different views are emerging. The traditional view considers thought to be ratio- nal, logical, and orderly; this approach uses mathematical logic as the scientific means to explain thought. Adherents of this approach have pioneered the develo"

for engineers.....
另外引起注意的注意的是 “We are surrounded with objects of desire, not objects of use.”

It’s a little bit tedium because it lacks of new concepts. But I’ll try my best to complete it for the reason of accumulation of words . Meanwhile, I am do inspired quite a lot by the concept that if you find it’s quite hard to figure out how to use something, you don’t need to blame yourself than blame it for stupid design.Half done.quit~
A bit wordy
如果要进阶阅读可能可以考虑《Observing User Experience:A practitioner‘s guide to User Research》这本比较新的…
