夏洛蒂．柯頓（Charlotte Cotton）
專業策展人。現為洛杉磯州立美術館Wallis Annenberg攝影部主任，曾任Bradford 國家媒體博物館創意總監、倫敦攝影藝廊策畫部主任、維多利亞暨亞伯特博物館攝影組主任、耶魯大學客座教授及多所藝術學院客座藝評。著有《不完美之美》（Imperfect Beauty）、《之後，一切歸於平靜》（Then Things Went Quiet）、《蓋．伯丁》（Guy Bourdin）及本書。

有些字有点难辨，不影响阅读，只是经常倒回来重新理解，非常全面，最后点明了当代摄影这个主题。里面有很多大师作，记不住名字了，有些还没有名字的。不管怎样好的影片是艺术的灵魂体现，是揭示存在于生活的本质。
虽然有好几处校对错误（比如照片序号错误和漏写），但是快速了解当代的摄影作品真是一个有趣的体验。对于我这样外行人来说，作品的解读信息量太大很难完全理解，不过欣赏摄影作品本身也很有意思。

好懂，应该说是提供了进入或者说观看当代摄影的方法，比较重要的一个观点大概是当代摄影与传统摄影是不同的脉络或者体系，对于如何理解与解释一些摄影也挺有帮助。
