  • "I was something that lay under the sun and felt it, like the pumpkins, and I did not want to be anything more. I was entirely happy. Perhaps we feel like that when we die and become a part of something entire, whether it is sun and air, or goodness and knowledge. At any rate, that is happiness, to b"
  • "While we were lying there against the warm bank, a little insect of the palest, frailest green hopped painfully out of the buffalo grass and tried to leap into a bunch of bluestem. He missed it, fell back, and sat with his head sunk between his long legs, his antennae quivering, as if he were waitin"
  • "Subsequent experiences with rattlesnakes taught me that my first encounter was fortunate in circumstance. My big rattler was old, and had led too easy a life; there was not much fight in him.
文学阅读课要求读的课外书…“I could almost believe that a boy and girl ran along beside me,as our shadows used to do,laughing and whispering to each other in the grass.”

My Antonia, that had so much good in her,had come home disgraced.
I think of you more often than of any one else in this part of world🤧
