In this new edition of "The Apotheosis of Captain Cook", the author addresses, in a lengthy afterword, Marshall Sahlins's 1994 book, How "Natives" Think, which was a direct response to this work.

This guy is the victim of that Said-ian logic. Since two arguments are so directly contradictory to each other, you'd better not take either one's word for it. So the best one can do is to tell who is more imaginative thus more interesting. In this case, it is Sahlins.
