Christopher Lasch (1932–1994), professor of history at the University of Rochester, wrote, among many other works, The True and Only Heaven: Progress and Its Critics and the best-selling Revolt of the Elites and the Betrayal of Democracy.

挑着感兴趣的翻了翻。1.基于文化历史学和社会心理学。虽然作者左右派都怼，但骨子里还是挺深的保守主义，而且是弗洛伊德狂热患者。2.自恋型人格里egoisticism和insecurity结合的双重性，这点解释了很多现代日常生活的行为 3.把父母权威的衰落放在社会分工体系的“完善”下探讨，还是挺有意思的
Lasch想写个国民精神侧写，但Narcissism包含的含义越来越多，成为了一种hybrid psyche，感觉越读越没什么意思。而且最后把Narcissism背后与现代性和资本主义交错的复杂关系仅仅解读为overarching bureaucratic dependence我是不能接受的。最后，我真的一点也不享受阅读的过程，Lasch的文笔真的爹味好浓🚬
