多花了10刀只为插图= = 都是写作最基本的要素，然而很多人会忽略。。

拖延症晚期终于把这本短小精悍的书看完了，感觉像一个脾气火爆的老头子和你唠嗑。 书中很多写作理念和我之前的直觉暗合，赞许一个人文笔清丽、言辞优美只是形容他/她写作能力很表层的一方面。而逻辑清晰、准确有力、深入浅出，时时刻刻考虑到读者的阅读体验可能才是the principle mark of good style. 我给十星⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
插画很漂亮
1.有用，有些地方和中式英语之鉴不谋而合，但这种东西还是知易行难，而且年代确实还是早了一点；2.果然是美国人写的；3.一星给这版装帧，兼顾美观和实用，非常宜人，喜欢插图；4.感觉ETS比我更需要看这个😡
作者对写作的要求很简单：standard，plain，precise。为了达到这样的写作目标，书中详细讲述了标点符号、字词选择等各方面的注意事项。文章是a matter of ear，所以要想写好文章，要先cook your ear。国内英文写作教学cook your ear这一步开始就做不好。可能是老师自己就无法分辨什么是好文章，什么是不好的文章。
前面Strunk老师用词还算亲民，到Reminder篇的White生词多了很多，读起来很吃力。值得注意的是，这本小手册最早发布于1919年，后面经过了几次修订，但书中作者痛心疾首不要这么写的用法，其实已经不再适用（至少我觉得古板）。像我一样因为想写好作文而看的同学建议直接看译本，会省事不少。比起语法，这本书着重点就是一个style，所谓风格，就是plainness，simplicity，orderliness，sincerity. 它更多塑造的是态度，而不是写作的原则。可以说给之前从小到大要凑字数、堆砌不同语法的排列组合、用华丽词组的应试英文教育下的我一个闷头一击。
大名鼎鼎的一本书。看完以后，印象最深的确实还是definite，specific和concrete。对大部分写作来说清晰和准确最重要。里面提到的一些语法和词语辨析其实初高中应该大多学过，算查漏补缺了……
一直以为这是一本以插画讲文体的书（类似MOMA那个艺术史帆布袋），拿到手才知道是style而非styles，风格的一神教。不用学英语之后反而更加喜爱此类从底层逻辑开始的广义“语法书”，Kalman的画配合引文，有着新概念英语课文插图式的幽默风味。读到一半，在脑中尝试按照指导把平时常用话语里的“如果”“大概”“可能”等词都删去，人格几乎（划掉）都已经焕然一新。
