I most enthusiastically recommend this book to ANYONE who has ANY single bit of interest in physics in particular, and modern science or even overall modern mode of thought in general: just go straight to the nearest library and grab it. (A 1985 Chinese translation is available: "原子物理与社会", though I doubt if it's in circulation anymore.) A few Wiki skim-overs would prepare you with the scientific background (keywords: quantum mechanics; unified field theory; etc.). Heisenberg is philosophically sophisticated, clear-minded, and occasionally musical and poetic, but still very articulate. Here we see through his intellectual development an honest case report and insightful analysis of the greatest paradigm shift of 20th century science. The discussions on "science and society" are not as stellar, but still worth reading as they are a rare presentation of the situation of scientists in wartime Nazi Germany.
