短篇小说集《七日谈》（1558）模仿薄伽丘的《十日谈》的风格，写来自法国和西班牙等国的五位年轻贵妇和五位青年男子，他们从比利牛斯山区的疗养地归来，由于山洪爆发而在一座修道院里暂住。为了消磨时间，他们每人每天讲一个故事，第八天只讲了两个，一共讲了72个故事，所以名为《七日谈》。纳瓦尔王后没有写完就去世了，小说集是在她身后的1558年出版的，被认为是法国文学史上第一部真正的短篇小说集。
