Alex Van Gelder
Alex Van Gelder lived in Africa for many years and is a serious collector of twentieth-century. West African photography . He edited the book life er afterlife in benin(2006), which was based on his collection. He exhibited a portfolio of eighteen of his photographs of the hands of louise bourgeois at Hauser & wirth zurich in 2011. The exhibition was accompanied by a catalogue entitled Alex Van Gelder-Louise bourgeois. Armed forces. In 2014 he exhibited a body of work called ‘Meat Portraits’ at Hauser &Wirth London. Van Gelder first met Bourgeois in Paris in the late 1970s. He lives and works in Paris
