詹姆斯•希尔顿（James Hilton），英国小说家，在剑桥大学学习期间就开始写作。著有《消失的地平线》（1933）、《鸳梦重温》（1941）。《再会，奇普斯先生》原是希尔顿1933年为英国《不列颠周刊》的圣诞节增刊所作，次年出版单行本。他的小说屡屡被搬上银幕，均大获成功。

一个教书匠随性而又不失教学原则的一生
胡适遇到韦莲司，在某些时刻不知是否就是这样？只是后面的故事太不一样了。
都有葛传槼先生的详注本了，此书不翻译也是可以的。搞不懂，为什么要把“契”变成“奇”？
