Seems like an ideal western style communication has a very important assumption: self-disclosure about one’s feelings is safe and should be promoted to maximize comm outcomes. This assumption, as argued by the author, should work in western countries because “ only dictators need to hide feelings and manipulate others through comm”. Is it?
