Jamie Delano部分的Hellblazer风格多样浓烈，故事气氛和情感沉郁，就算轻松的故事也带有强烈的悲剧感（如Constantine和房车漫游者们的故事，行驶到巨石阵享受最美好的一夜然后生变，像极了德伯家的苔丝的结局），命运的枷锁如影随形，对社会的批判虽然谈不上深刻，但立场坚定，反叛得彻底（Constantine会为了目标不择手段，甚至杀人，这个在其他英雄那里都很少见且他做事的时候果断，事后承担相应的代价），情怀伤感，文字优美典雅，特别是大段的独白，部分语言哲学性很强。《在海滩上》对人恐惧的展现的淋漓尽致。《超越现实》这个故事将"元小说"玩的很6，最后的两个故事《倒吊的人》和《大魔法师》意味悠长玄远，是作者个人为这样一个“背负者”所设计的结局：成为一个大魔法师需要经历不止一次人生。
