Retired publisher Susan Ryeland is living the good life. She is running a small hotel on a Greek island with her long-term boyfriend Andreas. It should be everything she's always wanted - but is it? She's exhausted with the responsibilities of making everything work on an island where nothing ever does, and truth be told she's beginning to miss her old life in London.
And then a couple - the Trehearnes - come to stay, and the story they tell about an unfortunate murder that took place on the same day and in the same hotel in which their daughter was married, is such a strange and mysterious one that Susan finds herself increasingly fascinated by it. And when the Trehearnes tell her that their daughter is now missing, Susan knows that she must return to London and find out what really happened...

Magpie Murders续集(the shared initials!),整本书都延续了前作风格。依然是作中作设置,the Atticus Pünd Case依然是古典whodunnit,甚至还玩了一把case-in–case-in-case, which is more Conan Doyle rather than AC. 整体水平不如前作。trick太简单，全靠plot撑，但又讲得殊乏趣味，虽然all cases concerned都在讲婚姻，但至少我对侦探和她妹妹的婚恋故事毫无兴趣。尽管已经隐隐料到本系列的核心卖点是什么，但最后一章满世界找XX对于一个非西方语境读者来说太不友好了，更别提读完1300页等着我的又是fucking bloody anagrams！
太喜欢这个系列了甚至希望作者写满9本（然而是不可能的，第二部都是因为电视要成系列才写的）。一本书的两个detective story都很robust，其中book within a book完全是黄金时代推理小说的风格，现代的部分谜题也很值得推敲。私以为book within the book更好读，可能因为我更喜欢经典的叙事风格吧
惊喜不如系列第一本Mapie Murders 多，可能因为古典探案的魅力在于揭露迷底时给人的震撼感，（相对更注重于过程而不是解谜的悬疑作品来说，比如罗琳，Jane Harper, Tana French 这些作者的作品），而这一本因为结局早早猜测到，所以就少了点乐趣。但案中案的作品本就很少，作者也是我读过的印象最深刻将古典和现代探案结合得很有趣的作家，（我甚至期待他笔下的Pund系列真的出版），还是会期待他的下一本作品。
A very good read, 喜欢这样传统的侦探小说。
经典的page turner，三天看完。猜到了故事中的故事的两个杀手，但没有想到why；猜到了开头的暗示，但没有想到why，更没有想到竟然有那么多的暗示，本以为要把书中书的人物和现实中的人物完全连起来才能找到凶手。很有幸碰到图书馆7天幸运读，next is magpie！
太长了真的好没必要…完全靠意志力听完了下半本书 还是更喜欢另一个系列
还是不错的，可以一口气读完。虽然有的部分有点…冗长
还是Atticus Pünd的部分更吸引～
一口气读下来非常过瘾的体验！
很喜欢书中书的设定，有些情节一下就猜到了，终章很惊喜
