这本书读起来像是作者自家工厂制作手札，有工具选择，工房设置，材料购买各方各面的考量，后半部分还带有制作要点的详细设计图，但有关Shaker风的设计要点和风格探索介绍得严重不足。面向的读者好像更贴近准备生产Shaker风的熟练工匠而非初学者，但Shaker风的东西真是越看越喜欢啊。
从图书馆借来的版本不太一样，震教徒的家具由于条件约束，都是使用最自然的材料与简单纯粹的设计，在家具史上也有很深的影响。这本书的特色在于有很多标志性家具详细的尺寸标注与工艺介绍。
这书原来还在再版，内容非常有趣，直观的了解早期美式风格，从工具，木材选料到木作大样图纸都有，在搭配一本讲shaker文化历史的书，就能非常好的理解这个早期美式风格了
