把Enuma Elish直接叫成the Epic of Creation（创世史诗）其实并不是很准确。EE是巴比伦新神夺位旧神，是新秩序取代旧秩序。“创世的七块泥板”听着太久远了，而Enuma Elish事实上只是晚生代权力对苏美尔创世神话的再叙述，或者说，是篡改。要说的话，the Song of Marduk（马尔杜克之歌）更适合做副标题。
抛开隐喻不看，本诗真是部母慈子孝的邪典了，提亚马特和阿普苏真是两个大怨种。本书旨在告诉我们一件事：少生孩子，多种树。养儿不能防老（不是）。
精华全在前五块泥板，后两块全是对马尔杜克的彩虹屁。
