这位老兄有个特异功能，就是梦中能改变现实，比如他不喜欢的一个阿姨，他做了一个梦，他的阿姨就从现实里消失了，为此他很苦恼，到医院需求治疗，但是哈伯医生野心很大，通过操纵他的治疗，通过催眠，通过植入什么东西改变了他的梦以达成自己的目的，因此这位老兄觉得很不舒服，他找到律师说了这个情况，他说我是来治病的，但是我感到我被利用了，律师说，你怎么证明你说的是真的，怎们证明这个世界是你改变后的，谁能证明那个你改变前的真实世界的存在呐？谁知道那是个咋样的世界呐？
在多元宇宙的概念还没有兴起的时候就在这本里进行了尝试。梦的主题再次出现，和《世界的语词是森林》有着奇妙的关系。人物描写非常棒，不落俗套。『世界即我，我即世界』。这一时期沿用了很多庄子（不过译本很早）。

一口气读完了 the best sci fi I've read in a long time. Though the landing on the straight romance was a bit meh, the whole thing is so complex and nuanced. I'll be thinking about it for a long while now
