比了下原文和英译。英文版除了《撒哈拉故事》的12篇外，还收录了《稻草人手记》（1976）中《我亲爱的婆婆》一篇，《哭泣的骆驼》（1977）中的《沙巴军曹》《哑奴》《搭车客》《收魂记》《哭泣的骆驼》和《温柔的夜》五篇，和《温柔的夜》（1979）中《寂地》一篇。翻译无功无过，审美情趣倒是很有elements of style真传（非褒义），“大叫”和“说”统统都做said。
原作打五星，译文只想打一星。
几十年前周粲写温柔的夜序言，这本又是新加坡人写序。选文揉杂了好几本书，最怪的是收录婆婆大人一文？译者是幼时从湖北移民移民的，翻译人名颇有讲究，但重复gave me a dirty look等表达实在distasteful. 以及，译文有时候让我觉得三毛不怎么真诚？？？
