A mystery that has the reader continually guessing the identity of the killer, this story also ties into the events that transform Harvey Dent into Batman's deadly enemy, Two-Face.
This edition includes original 13-issue series as well as four additional story pages cut from the original series, which are presented fully colored and restored to their place in the story. Also featured are sketches and an introduction by the director and writer of The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan and David Goyer.

过场人物很多，不能说非常好的故事，像个哥谭反派大串烧，但在美漫装逼境界上，装的非常成熟，悬疑气氛合格，以及画师疯狂的在每个特写里暗示Dent的双面人身份。画面处理很喜欢，在意境表达上很多值得学习的地方，本作如此经典和画师的精彩呈现关系很大。

怀抱拯救世人之理想，却愈发沉沦于所憎恶的深渊。环环相扣的案件推理与黑暗故事，哥谭的舞台上每个人都是身不由己。罗马人作为《教父》的影射与致敬，相似的形象与行事风格却是不一样的结局。
更动人的此时的蝙蝠，已经基本成为经验颇丰的黑暗骑士，却还不是日后那个近乎偏执与阴戾的残酷化身。他仍然相信自己终究可以洗涤城市的黑暗与罪恶，面对新年的钟声，还会祈祷新的一年愿望得以实现。再联想到以后发现哥谭的无可救药却再也不能出局，近乎麻木的那个知其不可而为之的悲情英雄，只有一声叹息罢了。
