You Should Know this is not an academic figure drawing book that covers the basics of drawing the human form. This book explores and examines my personal creative approach to draw- ing, creating and stylizing the human figure. I could not have obtained any of this knowledge without having spent several hours in introductory figure drawing courses that covered basic proportions, volume, foreshortening, anatomy, light and shadow, etc., etc. which I do not cover in this book. There are dozens of fantastic books out there that cover these principles in a much more comprehensive way that have. In other words, don’t get bothered with this book if it feels a little light on basic instruction - I didn’t design it that way.
