Scientism in Chinese Thought, Nineteen Hundred to Nineteen Fifty

This book is intended for those interested in the modern transformation and transvaluation in Chinese thought. I have written it primarily to illustrate China's response to one of the major intellectual forces in modern civilization, science. I approached the subject as a student of history of thought, not as a philosopher, scientist, or a historian of science.... 郭颖颐，1932年9月3日生于上海，1950年去美国。1954年获布朗大学文学士。1956年获耶鲁大学硕士学位、1959年获耶鲁大学哲学博士学位。1962年加入美国籍。1959-1961年任伊利诺伊州诺克斯学院讲师、助理教授。1961年起任夏威夷大学教授。1963-1964年任亚洲研究中心夏季讲习会主任。1965-1967年为新加坡南洋大学现代中国史访问教授。1969-1975年任夏威夷大学亚洲研究中心主任。1982-1983年为香港大学亚洲研究中心访问教授。后曾任夏威夷大学历史系主任。现为该校历史系荣休教授，专长研究中国现代思想史、中国知识分子史等。
