'Becoming Nicole' has opened a door for me on transgender issues, and narrating the transformation of one single individual is important especially when people are overly pedantic about the issue while neglecting that being transgender, along with other gender identities, is just a human expression formed and supported by authentic emotions.
I'd give this book 6 stars if I could. This is more than a family's battle, but an educational journey for us all.To live is to be honest to your true self, even if it means to fight the good fight and keep the faith in the darkest time.lt brought tears to my eyes to see how much is changed for the transgender kids because of Nicole and her family.
But the Lord said to Samuel "Do not consider his appearance or his height...The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart".
Love it a lot. It broadens my horizon.
A touching story and well-written.
A convo among three 3rd graders ended this booked perfectly. It's such groundbreaking and eye opening book that everyone, especially those question transgender's biological and psychological grounds, must give it a read. One of the best I've read this year.
It used to be one of my assignments for my Gender Politics course. The story is truly about the entire family and not as much about Nicole individually. Highly recommend this book as an engaging story and educational piece for those who do not understand what it means to be transgendered.
