1970s的女权科幻小说社会意义大于文学性。视角转换和四条主线交织蛮乱的。作者显然批判了joanna处于劣势的当下和Jennie所处great depression时代女性受支配的处境；jeal所在的世界是典型的“男女对立”，而janet所在的女性乌托邦背后仍然是一个父权制威权政体——这都无法成为ideal solution。不过书里描述的爹味男性角色和受压迫之女性形象，虽在今天看来是老生常谈，但依旧存在；这是没有过时的。（换种方式理解，Joanna认为“真外宾”janet和被男权洗脑的Jennie都不可取，只有自己的视角才能更清晰地认识到女性真实处境？）
七零年代女性主义科幻重要代表作，嬉笑怒骂，挺过瘾的一本书。

最后五十页真是神转折太高能了！但实话说小说本身并没有课上讨论的内容以及sociopolitical影射有趣。不过Joanna能写出这么绕的东西自己还不晕真的是好厉害！
