勒内•基拉尔（René Girard），法国当代著名哲学家、人类学家，法兰西学院院士、斯坦福大学终身教授。1923年生，在美国印第安那大学获博士学位，后常年执教于北美，主要作品除本书外，还有《浪漫的谎言与小说的真实》、《欲望几何学》等。其代表学说“模仿-欲望”说在文学批评、哲学、实验心理学领域中留下深刻影响。
