整本读完了的是1985版本，好喜欢，跟这个4th edition好不一样。这本也看了。

挺有趣的一本普及性读物，从语言学的视角来看语言，并且也反映出各个分支学科或交叉学科中外研究的差异所在，比如符号学、社会语言学等部分~当然，作为for beginner的书，Morphology、Syntax等章节写得相当简略~
