Fate and Fortune in Rural China is a major contribution to the study of both the social and population history of late traditional China, and that of historical demography in general. Lee and Campbell demonstrate the interaction between demographic and other social pressures, and illustrate graphically the nature of social mobility and social organization in rural China during the century from 1774SH1873. 简单翻阅,多看结论。数据处理方法应该是挺好的,也意识到地方资料的局限性,旗人制度和家庭层级下的人口流动对比颇有启发,其他基本在人类四分之一中可见端倪,算是一个地方缩略版。当然继续强调杀婴作为主动预防人口增长的措施作用,堪称杀婴狂魔又一力作……
