Considered Goya's most brilliant work, this collection combines corrosive satire and exquisite technique to depict 18th-century Spain as a nation of grotesque monsters sprung up in the absence of reason. 80 plates, Prado manuscript included.
  • "...Goya's imagination in this case did not lead him into error, but rather onto a higher plane of artistic achievement than almost any caricaturist and social commentator before his time."
  • "The readiness with which many women are inclined to get married, hoping thereby to be able to live in greater liberty."
  • "Lamentable abuse of early education. To cause a child to fear the bogey-man more than his father and so make it afraid of something that does not exist."
  • "Negligence, tolerance and spoiling make children capricious, naughty, vain, greedy, lazy and insufferable. They grow up and yet remain childish. Thus is nanny's little boy."

amazing!!
