除了部分图分辨率低些外，本书可以说是完美。不仅有图，而且有简要的说明，令其比较容易读懂。 有些图的质量可以说是相当好。 goya当时出版此书是对西班牙当时的很多现象，比如教士，异端裁判所等行为进行了深刻的讽刺。有些图甚至今天仍然有现实意义。比如，一张图是一个小孩打碎了罐，然后被妈妈打屁股的现象，边上有一个评语，大意是，小孩淘气而母亲脾气暴躁，哪个更糟糕呢？不过，这个图也可能是影射当时西班牙政府，即经常对人民执行特别严酷的惩罚措施。
