"Rich draperies in every part of the room trembled to the vibration of low, melan.choly music, whose origin was not to be discovered.Thesenses were oppressed by mingled and conflicting perfumes reeking up from strange convolute censers, together with multitudinous flaring and flickering tongues of emera"
"His plans were bold and fiery, and his conceptions glowed with barbaric lustre. There are some who wouldhave thought him mad.His followers felt that he was not.It was necessary to hear and see and touch him to be sure that he was not. There was much of the beautiful, much of the wanton, much of the biz"
Gordon Pym
The Tell-Tale Heart和The Fall of the House of User两篇
The Fall of the House of Usher
finished
I must perish in this deplorable folly. Thus, thus, and not otherwise, shall I be lost. I dread the events of the future, not in themselves, but in their results......I feel that the period will sooner or later arrive when I must abandon life and reason together, in some struggle with the grim phantasm, FEAR.
