Lost in the Funhouse is a collection of loosely connected short stories that was originally published by John Barth in 1968. These postmodern stories examine the art of fiction writing, among other things, and seem to undermine the conventional and predictable nature of fiction. In the fourteen stories, Barth presents a literary "funhouse," a dense maze that weaves in and out of plot, narration, and a self-conscious attention to the process of writing itself.

害怕沉下去，浮上来又没有方向，不如纵情狂欢，但这种快乐又是那么的的诡异无常。读起来真是味嚼黑橄榄啊。

1. Self-conscious and filled with existential anxiety. Our night-sea journey is without meaning.
2. The funhouse is fun for (language) lovers. Barth is a MASTER writer. One really has to SLAVE away at it to get that good.

我果然没法喜欢美国小说…
有一半篇章实验程度高到匪夷所思，一半则极端无聊。1968年的存在主义Night-Sea Journey。Lost in the Funhouse小说本身即是戏弄读者的一间Funhouse，作者声音干扰叙事，避重就轻，将读者和刚进入青春期的主角小男孩连结。Echo表面不知所云而配合后记令人恍然大悟。Title实验如何“写了，但没写任何故事”。Life-Story叙述作者笔下的作者笔下的人物意识到自己的虚构性并与作者角力，在当时还是先锋。Gossolalia, Menelaiad, Anonymiad是Barth最爱的补写古希腊史诗。
搭配B站1945年后的美国小说课程阅读第一章，这老哥是写了个精子旅行记吗？
并不指望能全看懂，比较喜欢two meditations，title，menelaiad
