Seeing the play from Abigail's POV, it's actually all about a possessive love that's gone terribly awry.
世界上本没有女巫,说的人多了,就成了罪。参观Salem的时候买了这个剧本,真实的历史比故事更残酷。Salem的后人将那十九个因为愚昧的人们,腐败的权威而无辜牺牲的人们和那些臭名昭著的“审判者”葬在一起,这样他们日日都会听到他们的罪行,游人带着鲜花纪念逝去的生命,殊不知几百年后“猎巫”仍在以不同的形式上演着。女巫可以是communist,是有色人种…人们仍需要不断的反思。
“Wind warm as blood,” “your justice can freeze beers,” “a funeral marches round your heart” … It’s easy to forget that Arthur Miller was writing about 17th century in 1950s. The beauty and power of his language are underestimated for sure.

Arthur Miller 非常著名的一本戏剧,两天时间拜读了这本戏剧,对与权力,人性,宗教的交织有了更深的看法。企鹅前部分的导言很长,谈到了一点感触很深,就是一个组织,一个社区乃至一个国家为了实现团结和内部统一,可以对少数群体和边缘人群进行打压和剥削。冷战时期,集中体现此种猎巫行动的就是麦肯锡主义。当历史的悲剧一再重复,此种景象该有多讽刺。为打压苏联,实现美国国内和党内团结,以莫须有的罪行指向形态意识对立的一方。当🇺🇸大批共产党人被公开指责为苏联间谍,接受法庭审判,供审出其他有关人士以自保时,这种荒唐的景象同样出现在几百年前的塞勒姆小镇。是违背良心指控他人苟且活下去?还是以性命为代价坚守道德良知,站在真理的一方?proctor在结尾说出的leave my name!实在令人动容。
