Gobstoppers, wriggle sweets and a river of melted chocolate delight await - Charlie needs just one Golden Ticket and these delicious treats could all be his. "A true genius . . . Roald Dahl is my hero" David Walliams ***with an exciting look into Roald Dahl's world*** Roald Dahl, the best-loved of children's writers, was born in Wales of Norwegian parents. After school in England he went to work for Shell in Africa. He began to write after "a monumental bash on the head", sustained as an RAF pilot in World War II. Roald Dahl died in 1990. Quentin Blake is one of the best-known and best-loved children's illustrators and it's impossible now to think of Roald Dahl's writings without imagining Quentin Blake's illustrations.

  • "'The thing to remember,' Grandma Georgina said, 'is that whatever happens, you'll still have the bar of chocolate.' “But there was one other thing that the grown-ups also knew, and it was this: that however small the chance might be of striking lucky, the chance is there. The chance had to be there."
  • "There is something about very cold weather that gives one an enormous appetite. Most of us find ourselves beginning to crave rich steaming stews and hot apple pies and all kinds of delicious warming dishes; and because we are all a great deal luckier than we realize, we usually get what we want—or n"
  • "“I am the maker of music, the dreamer of dreams!”"
  • "“You should never, never doubt something that no one is sure of.” Mr. Wonka: "Don’t forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he wanted." Charlie Bucket: "What happened?" Mr. Wonka: "He lived happily ever after.”"
  • "“It is, my dear, it is. And to all the kings and presidents of the world as well. But it isn’t only chocolate bars that he makes. Oh, dear me, no! He has some really fantastic inventions up his sleeve, Mr Willy Wonka has! Did you know that he’s invented a way of making chocolate ice cream so that it"
Written for kids, the book is interesting and easy to read. When I was young, I longed for milk the way Charlie longed for chocolates. The story reminded me the simple yet pleasant days in the past.
The sinners of spoiling children are their parents; TV is the bane of the stopping of children’s growth in mind; and the world is full of Good Samaritan and bad guys, hope you will come across those good.
