First published in 1933, the novel portrays a series of encounters in Berlin between the narrator and the camp and mildly sinister Mr. Norris. Evoking the atmosphere in Berlin during the rise of the Nazis, the novel has achieved the status of a modern classic.
克里斯托弗•伊舍伍德（Christopher Isherwood，1904—1986） 英裔美国作家。
一九二九年随好友诗人奥登（W. H. Auden）前往柏林，在当地待了四年，恰好见证了纳粹在德国的兴起。一九四六年获得美国国籍，余生定居美国。其作品以描绘二十世纪一九三〇年代的柏林著称，并带有浓厚的自传色彩。代表作《别了，柏林》和《诺里斯先生换火车》合称为《柏林故事集》，被美国国家图书馆与《时代》杂志评入“二十世纪一百部最佳英语小说”。曾与奥登合写日记《战地行纪》，记载一九三八年周游中国的见闻。伊舍伍德的多部作品被改编为电影并获多项国际大奖。美国著名剧作家、小说家和散文家戈尔•维达尔（Gore Vidal）称赞伊舍伍德为“最好的英语散文作家”。

My main critique would be the narrator's sometimes seemingly neutral or attempting to remain uninvolved position, which is quite different from the narration in Isherwood's later work.
Hilarious in an Isherwoodian way and definitely worth a read!

柏林的动荡时局，有轻描淡写但无感同身受。背景比较宏伟的典型英国中产阶级小作坊故事。基佬的情愫感人，没有任何描写评论就烘托出了我的英俊，这么含蓄又这么骄傲也很感人。
